Back in 2011 Google announced that they would be acquiring Motorola Mobility for an eye-watering $12bn. This would essentially give Google a smartphone/tablet manufacturer of their own, which some expressed concern over as they feared Google would favor Motorola. The results so far of this acquisition has resulted in the recently announced Moto X - a phone built by Motorola with Google's blessing, and thankfully a version of Android that seems to be pretty much stock Android save for some added features.
