Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus press shots leak, Bell contest lets you get one before it's officially out

Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus press shots leak, Bell contest lets you get one before it's officially out

If you're in North America, you're still left waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. That is, of course, unless you have nothing against shelling out $749.99 for an unlocked imported version. That said, if you're in Canada, at least you know when your countdown to the Galaxy Nexus will end. December 8 is when both Bell and Virgin Mobile will launch the new Google phone, and we've known that for quite a while now.

So to make the wait easier, Bell has decided to throw a Twitter-based contest starting tomorrow, December 1.

Apple seeks to ban Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany

Apple seeks to ban Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany

. Samsung's tweaks to the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 weren't enough to satisfy Apple's legal team. Apple successfully banned Samsung's German subsidiaries from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 after it accused the South Korea-based company of patent infringement. Samsung responded by releasing a modified Galaxy Tab 10.1N tablet it believed had addressed all of Apple's concerns. Unfortunately, Apple isn't satisfied with the changes and it wants to ban Samsung from selling the new tablet as well. A hearing for Apple's request for an injunction is scheduled for December 22nd, Dow Jones Newswires said.

A Bag Indiana Jones Could Love

A Bag Indiana Jones Could Love

I was very interested to see these Filson bags while surfing recently.  Filson makes a line of fabric and leather luggage, travel accessories and wallets, briefcases and totes, and field bags (think daily-carry gear bags).  They use twill and wool fabrics in their bags, and I especially love the looks of the medium Wool Field Bag.  The medium field bag in blue/black plaid is shown, but the bag is available in a variety of plaid fabrics, camo designs, and solid black.  There's a full-width slip-in pocket on the back and two pockets on the ends.

How much cloud storage space do you need. 2GB. 5GB. Pah. Box.net scoffs at your puny storage needs, and plan to offer a substantial 50GB of free storage (again) for anyone packing a Sony Ericsson Android phone. While the plans have leaked ahead of schedule, the fine details haven't been hammered out just yet; the official blog tells us that the company's "working to provide this offer very soon to all Xperia customers." When the offer does go live, logging in to (or creating) a Box.net account on any Xperia handset will open the floodgates to 50 gigs of intangible internet storage fo' life.

. The Federal Communications Commission released a 109-page report on Tuesday evening that provides a great deal of insight into what the government agency thought of AT&T's planned acquisition of T-Mobile USA. However, AT&T has questioned exactly why the government agency decided to release the report since, hours before the report was released, AT&T successfully withdrew its merger application.

Researchers expose printer vulnerability; hope you won't bring a printer into the flight

Your precious printer might seem innocuous but, in reality, it could be a ticking time bomb just waiting for some hacker to trigger it. Oh, and we mean that not just figuratively, but literally as well — they could actually be caused to burst into flames by some ne'er-do-well half-way around the globe. Of course, the potential doesn't end at remote arson, an attacker could easily gain access to a network or steal documents, and hijacking the lowly device would require little more than printing an infected file.

AMD gives up on desktop CPU, not competing with Intel anymore, wants to go mobile

In a move that could very well be interpreted as exchanging one problem for another, Advanced Micro Devices has decided to stop focusing so much on the PC business and get its act closer together on the mobile front. The Bulldozer disaster, as it is known in some circles, must have persuaded AMD's leadership that the PC side of their business wasn't flying very well and far anymore. Though everyone was expecting much from 8-core processors, the performance was, in the end, well lower than some of AMD's own previous-generation chips.

Galaxy Nexus Volume/2G Bug Fix Rolling Out “In The Coming Week”

Galaxy Nexus Volume/2G Bug Fix Rolling Out “In The Coming Week”

While we sit and wait patiently for the US release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus our friends across the pond have been enjoying it for almost a week now. As it goes for most beta testers – er, I mean early adopters — a nasty bug was found by way of the device muting itself and then becoming unresponsive — all this after dipping into 2G. It was weird and Google both acknowledged it and said they were on top of it. Today, we have a more specific, yet still vague time frame on when to expect this update.

Believe it or not, the Motorola Milestone 2 (which is the name under which the Droid 2 has been selling in Europe) is still running Android 2.2 Froyo, a version of Google's mobile operating system that hasn't been the latest since December of 2010. So naturally, those of you in Europe were probably happy when we told you that the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Milestone 2 would finally arrive in November. And Motorola is about to keep its promise, even if only just. See, the manufacturer took to Facebook earlier today to announce that the update will start rolling out across the continent sometime tomorrow.

Zombies need to feed on warm flesh, and this basic instinct has been depicted in horror movies for the longest time already, although the zombies have grown faster and stronger over the years instead of being the slow-moving undead that was originally shown on the silver screen. As for those in a fraternity on campus, there is also another basic need to attend to – that is, the call of alcohol during parties. You know the old saying, if you want something done, then you've got to do it yourself.

Google Maps 6.0 for Android adds indoor mapping, more [video]

. Google Maps 6.0 for Android was released on Tuesday with several enhancements, the most notable of which is indoor map support. Google hopes the update will help Android users more easily navigate shopping malls, airports and other public spaces. Users are able to search throughout floor plans, too, which means a traveler can search for a coffee shop or the nearest restroom in an airport. Google said floor plans will appear when a user is zoomed-in fully on a building where mapping data is available; the differences between indoor and outdoor maps can be seen in the image above.

We’ve been hearing that the reason the Galaxy Nexus isn’t out on Verizon by now is due to it not exactly being ready. Verizon usually has no problem delaying a device to ensure a worry-free experience for users out of the box. Some test users have begun to receive test updates to Android 4.0.2, and although they weren’t clear on what it brings some say it could be due to the volume bug. “But the HSPA+ European versions haven’t gotten it,” you shout?

Well, it’s only on test devices for Verizon so that may be the reason they haven’t gotten it yet.

Cycling and wine drinking are two activities that I never considered going hand in hand. Obviously I have been severely misinformed because the Bicycle Wine Rack from Oopsmark allows the wine drinking cyclist to transport their favorite bottle along for the ride. Wacky. Yes. But it's made of leather, so you know people aren't going to laugh and point when you ride by. They will be jealous and want one of their own. The Wine Rack is made of vegetable tanned leather and is available in 3 colors. It's priced at $29.00 – $34.00 and fits 1″ bike frames and 3″ bottles.

AEM lets you hook up your car to a dyno at home with Dyno-Shaft

Unless you happen to own a dyno, accurately keeping track of which modifications benefit your vehicle may be a seat-of-the-pants operation. AEM is hoping to change that for people who are serious about wringing the absolute most out of their vehicle with the unfortunately-named Dyno-Shaft. While the product may sound like a bizarre fetish film, it has the potential to revolutionize tuning for those of us who don't have access to high-dollar engine evaluation equipment.

New Skype enables Facebook-to-Facebook video calling

Facebook, it seems, has become the official spokesperson of the internet, or the symbol of the World Wide Web (at least for Americans, anyway). In the daily newspaper, the logo is seen printed with almost every ad. On television, they're spotted on TV commercials along with a link to the advertiser's Facebook page. A good number of websites require a Facebook login, and even chat clients like the recently upgraded AIM (which has thoroughly pissed off recent and long-time users) offers Facebook chat connectivity.
Skype is just as guilty.

3D solar structures from MIT that can work just as well in cloudy weather

A team over at MIT have recently found a way to make solar panels work just as efficiently in cloudy weather as they do during cloudy weather. Instead of just using flat panels that only obtain the most energy when the sun is directly above them, the team has come up with 3D solar structures that are capable of collecting sunlight from all around them (i.e. ambient light) instead of from just one direction;which means in less than ideal conditions, the structures can collect almost as much light as they do on a sunny day.

Nokia has promised to update its older models (currently running Symbian Anna) to Belle. Here's a video that shows the flashing process:

Ice Cream Sandwich supports USB mass storage after all, Galaxy Nexus does not

When the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was announced, we were a bit taken aback by the fact that USB mass storage wasn't supported on the device, leading us to believe that it was a flaw in Android 4.0. Android engineer Dan Morrill took to the ‘net to sort out the confusion, explaining that Ice Cream Sandwich does indeed support the feature, but only on devices that offer removable storage cards — which explains why we weren't able to use it on the Nexus. Here's why, according to Dan:.
