T-Mobile offering white Nexus 4 for limited time

T-Mobile offering white Nexus 4 for limited time

Starting today, T-Mobile is offering the white Nexus 4 for a limited time online. You can snag the pale horse Nexus at one of the best rates you will find: $19.99 down and $17/month thereafter (plus the cost of service). Google and LG recently announced the new paint job for the Nexus and availability via T-Mobile marks one of the first opportunities folks will have to get their hands on one. The phone should soon be available via the Google Play Store for $350 off contract.

Purchasing the phone up front from the carrier runs a bit a pricer at $427, still $50 cheaper than the black Nexus 4 sans contract.

Google Play Music update brings new share and delete options

Google Play Music update brings new share and delete options

Google Play Music has just seen an update in the Play Store and it looks to fix up some issues Google seems to have forgotten to include when it was released a few weeks ago. Today's update brings the version number up to 5.0.1041J and finally gives users the option to not only remove albums from their libraries, but delete unwanted tracks as well. There's also the handy option of sharing tracks with your friends on Google+, so help create some buzz on your favorite artists (the new Vampire Weekend album “Modern Vampires of the City” — get it).

2014 BMW X5 doesn't upset the formula

BMW has unveiled the 2014 X5, and fans of the company's CUV will find plenty familiar in the machine. The biggest change to the recipe comes in the form of the X5 sDrive35i, which is the first rear-wheel drive version of the high-riding five-door to date. Buyers will, of course, continue to be able to opt for all-wheel drive, and both models will get their thrust from a 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. That powerplant makes 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition headed to Verizon and AT&T

Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition headed to Verizon and AT&T

We just caught word that Samsung will soon be introducing developer editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 for a couple of different US carriers. Funnily enough, the two carriers with the biggest history of locking devices down will be getting them: AT&T and Verizon. It's an interesting dynamic for AT&T users who will soon be able to buy the Google Edition Galaxy S4 with stock Android and updates straight from Google, but those on Verizon won't have any such alternative.

Google becomes second most valuable brand (guess who's first)

It's no secret Google has been setting the world on fire these past couple of years, introducing great new web-based apps and technology, advancing Android, and introducing exciting new products like ChromeBooks and Google Glass. The Mountain View company's stock performance certainly attests to that much, with Google currently trading at nearly 890 points with a market cap of 295.08 billion. That type of performance has convinced research firm MarketingWeek to upgrade Google's brand value rating.

Scratch that new crossover, Volvo teases ad campaign for XC60

Scratch that new crossover, Volvo teases ad campaign for XC60

If we were to paraphrase the opening lines of Kenneth Graeme's Wind in the Willows for our own purposes, we'd write, "Have you heard about Volvo. They never planned a new crossover at all. It was all a horrid low trick of theirs...." To be fair, though, we can't blame them for our own presumption. When the Swedish car company created a site called LeaveTheWorldBehind.com and teased a couple of videos for some kind of collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, we thought the crossover in one of the teasers pointed to a new vehicle on the way.
Turns out that's not the case.

ASUS teases Computex announcement that will "move" us

It's almost that time again, folks. ASUS' favorite technology show, Computex, is on the horizon, and the manufacturer is beginning to tease us about upcoming announcements as it has shown a propensity to do. The deed was done on Google+, and ASUS mentioned the first hint: “it'll move you.” We're not sure what that's supposed to mean just yet, but anything is possible. We typically expect new phone and tablet announcements from ASUS at these events, but everything we know so far doesn't give us the slightest clue on what to expect.

Nexus 7 gets Bluetooth certified again, this time running Android build JWR11

Rumors of a refreshed Nexus 7 sporting a higher-res display and new Snapdragon processor have been making the rounds for a few months now. Once rumored for a Google I/O unveiling, things didn't exactly pan out and Google had no new information on the quickly aging tab. I guess it's puzzling that a Nexus 7, showing the same model number as the current version, just made a trip to the Bluetooth SIG where it's been awarded with Bluetooth certification almost a year since it's been released. Strange? Definitely. What's more is the documentation showing the device running a new Android build JWR11.

First 2014 Hyundai Equus shipment adrift in Pacific Ocean

First 2014 Hyundai Equus shipment adrift in Pacific Ocean

To all you Hyundai dealers and customers eager to plunk your posteriors into the broad, leather-lined seats of the redesigned 2014 Equus, we have some bad news: Your ship hasn't come in – literally. According to USA Today, a Korean freighter with the first 61 examples of the luxury sedan packed away in its belly has lost engine power in the western Pacific Ocean, and is adrift. The ship, Morning Spruce, has apparently been without power for several days and is floating in the Sea of Okhotsk. It isn't clear when it will be repaired or reach US shores to discharge its contents.

Bacteria Used To Fight Malaria

Bacteria Used To Fight Malaria

Michigan State University researchers have found the transmission of malaria via mosquitoes to humans can be interrupted by using a strain of the bacteria Wolbachia in the insects. Wolbachia bacteria is used to produce insects that could pass the infection on to their offspring. Female mosquitoes that carried Wolbachia also bred with uninfected mates.

Technically, Key-lime Pie WAS at Google I/O...

Oh, Google. Only you know how to get us in a tizzy. When we heard rumors that Key-Lime Pie would be at Google IO, we were expecting something… different. It was there, though — we just weren't looking hard enough to find it. Google slipped these easter eggs into various sessions of theirs, with one showing a BugDroid chilling on a park bench eating a delicious-looking slice of key-lime pie, with another showing an RPG where one of the characters' special moves is, you guessed it, key-lime pie.

Thanko - Miniature functional camera that looks like a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera

Yes, everything is small in Japan but this is extreme. Thanko released an extremely small functional camera that looks like a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Despite it's super small size (38x33x28m, 17g), it is capable of taking photos and movies. Photos and movies can be saved on a microSD card. Battery charge is done via a USB port.

It also features a strobe that detects darkness and flashes automatically and a “Motion-sensing” function that starts taking about 2 minutes of video by detecting body movement.

XTZ Earphone-12 review

XTZ Earphone-12 review

The majority of earphones today are just that – earphones. However, some audio companies have recently been creating music player apps that are tuned specifically for their particular earphone. When I first got a glimpse of the new EarPhone-12 from XTZ, I wondered if their digital sound processing (DSP), developed in conjunction with Dirac Research, would be as magical as promised. DSP has been XTZ's main selling point for the EarPhone-12; it's all over their marketing.  In the end, I'm both impressed and disappointed in the thinking behind these audio beauties.

The EarPhone-12 is a looker.

Japanese Robot Art: Nice to Look At, and Don't Forget the Inspiration!

Japanese Robot Art – It's Good, Man. Illustration, product packaging, statues & sculpture, and even some transhumanist pin-ups; for decades Japan's been pounding out the robot art like nobody's business. Last week's robotics piece examined the artistic legacy influence of giant Japanese robots on the upcoming film Pacific Rim, but this week it's just cool robot art for the sake of looking at cool robot art.

ZenWheels Micro Car review

ZenWheels Micro Car review

Remote control cars are always fun, but the downside of the classic remote control cars is that they are fairly large and require an even larger area to play on.  Then someone invented those micro RC cars that are pocket-friendly, but those RC cars only go one speed, which is super fast and right off the table-top.  ZenWheels solved the super-fast speed problem and also gave us some extra features in their version of the micro cars. Inside the package, you'll find the Micro RC Car, 12 cones, timing gate, microUSB cable, and the instructions.

Move over Audi, now Chrysler has a beef with Tesla's claims

In the same week that Audi said "not so fast" to some claims from Tesla, Chrysler has responded to a new press release from the California-based EV-maker by saying "not exactly, Tesla." The statement, released through the company's blog, comes in response to Tesla claiming it was "the only American car company to have fully repaid the government." Chrysler notes that it, too, recently paid back Uncle Sam from its 2008 bailout. Similar to Audi's recent press release, which was eventually and mysteriously deleted from the German automaker's site, Chrysler is both right and wrong in its statement.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 priced, launches sometime in July

Many folks waiting on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 have been left in the dark in regards to a date (and even pricing) up to this point. We knew not to expect it sometime this quarter, but without any more details from Samsung we were left to guess for ourselves. Well, we at least now know not to expect this device at any point this month or next month, but Clove has gotten some updated info for those over in the UK. According to them, the device will be shipping at some point this July. Unfortunately that doesn't give us an exact release date to look forward to, but at least we can rest easy knowing the wait from now won't be unbearably long.

Adopting New Technology: When Being Quick on the Draw Is a Good Thing

Adopting New Technology: When Being Quick on the Draw Is a Good Thing

There are two types of technology users - those that like to have the latest and greatest devices and those that use their devices until they are obsolete. There really isn't one best user, but some people are criticized for buying devices as soon as they are released to the public because of the higher cost. So, here are three reasons that being quick on the draw to adopt new technology is actually a good thing.

There is a thrill about having something before others. You've probably heard the phrase, "keeping up with the neighbors." Well, technology has a similar effect.
