HTC and ST-Ericsson rumored to be developing their own mobile chips

HTC and ST-Ericsson rumored to be developing their own mobile chips

Apple has their A-series of processors, while Samsung has the Exynos. Now it looks like HTC is interested in making processors of their own according to the China Times. Based on the report, it seems that HTC has signed a memorandum of agreement with ST-Ericsson to co-develop a processor that is expected to power the Taiwanese company's lower-end smartphones and is expected to start shipping some time in 2013. The reason behind this move is apparently due to HTC's reported unhappiness with Qualcomm and has since introduced NVIDIA's Tegra processors to the mix.
