Part of the United States' Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative, the National STEM Video Game Challenge offers kids from age 9 to 17 (grades five - 12) the chance to interact with a variety of development software to create games, all while learning skills from the aforementioned quartet of disciplines. Game development goes deeper than just those four areas, of course, and that was clear at this past Sunday's closing event for 2013's challenge.
