Rumors earlier indicated a possible launch in late 2012, but that is driven home by the latest report which claims that the next generation Xbox launch is set to take place in 2013 citing "a source" on the Xbox team has confirmed it. Microsoft Xbox 360 is already the best-selling gaming console in the market. Bundled with Kinect, it gives even more reasons to continue having one. There's no immediate need for Microsoft to jump for a closer launch.
This is seemingly true since other contenders in the league including Sony and Nintendo haven't disclosed anything about their next generation consoles.
